Breeding without a permit is illegal and punishable!

Legislation published by the MME:
‘According to Public Hygiene Law clause 18 (2017), it is prohibited to keep animals for breeding without a license, and will be punished accordingly’.

This means accidental or purposeful breeding, along with the sale of offspring is illegal.

We see many animals as a result of illegal breeding, often puppies of desirable breeds. We take in many animals from the result of breeding- puppies are bought without thinking through the long term commitment, and adults are kept in squalid conditions used only for the purpose of money making.

To prevent breeding, please make sure your pets are sterilised. Please think twice when buying a pet, and consider the conditions and background of where they come from. To stop illegal breeding, adopt, don’t shop!
